Patch Notes – Gameplay Balance Changes and Bug Fixes (11.14.2019)

Adventurer Characters
  • Enabled Ookami – Nightmare, Nightmare Style A, and Nightmare Style B

  • Tactical ability balance changes
    • Drone
      • When using drones, enemies within a certain distance and angle will be marked
      • Friendly drone markings will continuously show
      • Opponent drones are also marked at a certain distance and angle

    • Vehicle Mod Kit
      • Time taken for Modification/Repair has been halved
      • Modification/Repair cooldown has been reduced
      • Slightly increased the HP for all Battlecars and Battleboats
      • Mini-compact car’s invisibility cooldown has been greatly reduced
      • Armored-truck’s machinegun firing accuracy and cooldown recovery speed has been slightly increased

  • Reduced the time taken for reviving knocked-down teammates from 10 seconds to 5 seconds
  • Airdrops and grenades has been set back to default appearance
  • Added an input frequency limit for mouse clicks during spawn selection, clicking extremely fast will no longer provide advantage

Halloween in-game changes
  • Added a haunted house below Ocean Park on Europa Island, brave adventurers are welcomed to pay a visit!
  • Airdrop appearance is now a gigantic pumpkin head with some “spooky special effects”
  • Grenade appearance are also changed to little pumpkins, so watch out if you see a pumpkin in the air heading your way

  • Daily check-in continues from November 1 to November 8 (Pacific Time),
    make sure to check-in daily to receive exclusive Halloween skins
    including traversal equipment appearances and a special accessory!

Please note:
Ring of Elysium’s live servers will go down for maintenance for approximately four hours at:
October 23rd, 0:00-4:00 PDT, 7:00-11:00 UTC/GMT

During the maintenance period, the game will not be available and ongoing

Adventurer Season 6
  • The Adventurer Pass spans over the 10-week season and is a way for
    players to earn exclusive in-game rewards. By playing the game and
    ranking up the seasonal Adventurer Tiers, players will unlock various
    epic rewards including:
    • E-points: The S6 Adventurer Pass rewards includes a total of 1500 E-points!
      Players can spend 950 E-points to unlock the Adventurer Pass and earn
      1500 E-points back when they hit tier 97!
    • Adventurer Characters (does not affect game balance)
      • There will be three Adventurer Characters in this season. All
        characters have a variety of unlockable styles, and will gradually
        unlock as the player's Tier increases their Adventurer Pass
      • Ookami (Base Character Preview)

    • Player portraits

  • The Adventurer Pass is separated into two parts:
    • The Free Pass - all players can obtain rewards by increasing their Adventurer Tiers without any sort of payment
    • The Adventurer Pass, which is available for 950 E-Points. E-Points are a
      premium in-game currency obtained with real-world money via Steam
      payment (1000 E-Points is equivalent to $9.99 USD)

  • Players will immediately get a handful of rewards upon purchasing the S6
    Adventurer Pass, including two base Adventurer Characters: Ookami and
    Mobula! Players will also get access to exclusive Adventurer weekly
  • Players can buy the Adventurer Pass at any time during the season and retroactively earn the premium rewards based
    on the season tier that they have already reached!
  • Players can level up their seasonal character levels by accumulating experience
    points in-game; each character level will reward a certain amount of
    Adventurer Badge(s). Completing daily and weekly challenges will also
    reward Adventurer Badges accordingly, 10 Adventurer Badges will increase
    players’ Adventurer Tier by one
  • Weekly Challenge Missions will provide a large amount of Adventurer Badges and character
    experience points to help players increase their character levels and
    Adventurer Tiers. Season 6 will provide 10 sets of Weekly challenge
    missions. The first eight weeks' challenge missions will provide a large
    quantity of Adventurer Badges and the final two weeks' challenge
    missions will provide a large amount of character experience points. As
    the season progresses, one set of weekly challenge missions will be
    unlocked every week, and the already unlocked missions can be completed
    at any time throughout the season
  • As always, none of the rewards in the Adventurer Pass affects game balance, and all unlocked rewards stay forever

Loadout system revamped
  • How it works
    • In Europa Island games, players can select one traversal equipment, one
      tactical ability, and one starting weapon at the beginning of each game
      • Traversal equipment include:
        • Glider
        • BMX
        • Grappling hook

      • Tactical abilities include
        • Deployable shield (new)
        • Holographic decoy (new)
        • Medgun (new)
        • Drone
        • Vehicle Mod Kit
        • DPV

      • Starting weapons include:
        • Glock 17
        • Desert Eagle
        • Citori

  • More details on the six tactical abilities:
    • Deployable shield
      • Use to deploy a shield in front of your character for reliable damage protection
      • The shield cannot be damaged by bullets, but can be destroyed by the RPG-7 and grenades
      • Default keybind is “G”
      • This ability will go on a cooldown after each use

    • Holographic decoy
      • Use to create a realistic holographic decoy at your current position to bait your enemies
      • Enemy position will be revealed when the decoy is shot
      • Default keybind is “G”
      • This ability will go on a cooldown after each use

    • Medgun
      • Can be used to remotely heal or rescue knocked down teammates by shooting healing syringes
      • Press “G” to take out the Medgun, press LMB to shoot, RMB to aim, and press “G” again for self-healing
      • This ability will go on a cooldown after each use

    • Drone, Vehicle Mod Kit and the DPV
      • Operational methods for Drone, Vehicle Mod Kit and the DPV remains the same as before
      • Drone and Vehicle Mod Kit will no longer spawn as loot on the map
      • Drone and Vehicle Mod Kit will go on a cooldown after each use

  • Vehicle Mod Kit can now upgrade boats as well
    • Speedboat
      • A ramjet will be added onto the boat after upgrade, providing a strong boost of speed
      • Default boost activation keybind- “Shift”

    • Inflatable boat
      • A machinegun will be added onto the boat after upgrade, providing high damage output with high accuracy
      • Default firing keybind- LMB
      • Default aim keybind- RMB

Gameplay changes

    • MK12’s damage has been slightly increased

New landmarks on Europa Island
  • Ema Island: A serene Japanese inspired island where you can relax and soak up the
    scenery - when not trying to escape The Ash or eliminate other players!

  • Drilling platform and Tidal power station: “Self-sufficient energy” seems to be the new buzz-word on Europa
    Island, or maybe there’s some hidden secrets behind these constructions?

Supporter rewards
  • Introducing “Supporter rewards”! Purchase any amount of E-Points during Season 6 to
    claim a supporter reward pack at the Event Center, rewards include a
    Japanese lantern accessory, an Epic quality weapon skin for the TAC-50,
    and a special portrait

Adventurer Pass owner exclusive rewards
  • Introducing “Exclusive Daily Chest,” Adventurer Pass owners can claim one chest
    daily for random rewards including exclusive weapon skins, vehicle
    appearances, portraits, E-Points, and more!

  • Exclusive Daily Chest claims will reset every day at 12AM (Pacific Time)

Adventurer Pass changes
  • Players now need to visit the “Adventurer Pass” tab in the lobby to claim their
    Adventurer Pass rewards based on their seasonal Tier

S6 Adventurer Welcome Gift Box
  • To thank all current and future Adventurers for their support, we’ve
    created the Season 6 Adventurer Welcome Gift Box. The Adventurer Welcome
    Gift Box will be provided to all Adventurers upon logging in for the
    first time during Season 6
  • The gift box not only contains a limited-time trial card of a random Adventurer Character and the
    FAMAS-Thunderbolt weapon skin, but also some refreshing traversal
    equipment appearances!

Lucky Draw- Season 6 update
  • The Lucky Draw system is back and updated with new rewards! With an
    epic prize pool including traversal equipment appearances, VKS - Sakura
    Fall skin, and “Death Charge” vehicle appearance for the All-terrain
  • Event Period: October 23 - December 31, 2019 (Pacific Time)
  • Event rules:
    • Players can find the Lucky Draw interface by visiting the “Event Center” in the lobby
    • This event is divided into four 7-day stages, players can draw 5 times during each stage and each draw costs 50 E-Points
    • Players are guaranteed to get one item from the prize pool per draw, and items already drawn will not be repeatedly rewarded

  • Introducing the latest FREE weapon skin event: a limited, Ookami-themed G36!

    exclusive rewards with their friends, we have fully updated the rewards

Quake Champions Fall Update

We’re kicking off the new season with a new ranked mode and a Leaderboard reset. Everyone begins Season 4 with a clean slate and can begin qualification matches on day 1, no need to level up before jumping into the fray. To test everyone’s skills, we’ve added Time Limit Duel to Ranked Play, which has been in the forefront since QuakeCon and the launch of the new Quake Pro League and Challenger Cups.

Now is a great time to challenge yourself in Ranked Play, completed your qualification matches, and work your way up the Leaderboard. Participating in Ranked Play is a great way to improve your skills, challenge yourself, and eventually prove yourself – and hopefully have some fun along the way. :)

How does Time Limit Duel work?
  • Objective. Choose 1 Champion, pre-selected prior to the match and are locked into place for the duration of play. Earn the most frags in 10-minutes, or first to twenty frags to win! If players are tied at the end of 10-minutes, players enter into Sudden Death and pressure mounts as the next frag leads to victory.
  • In Custom Game, TLD works just as you have come to know it. Two players in the Custom Game Lobby have an unlimited amount of time to make their Champion choices, with no restrictions. Players can increase the frag count, choose to disable abilities, or agreed to house rules for their Champion and map selections. Once the Party Leader is ready, they initiate the match and off you go!
  • In Ranked Play, TLD is largely the same, but with one new twists – blind picks. Once you have been matched with an opponent, each player will be given 15 seconds to decide who they wish to play. There are no restrictions on who you get to play, and your choice is made in private. You may have a favorite Champion that you always wish to play, you may make a decision based on the map voted upon, or you may want to make a strategic choice by attempting to guess who your opponent may select if you happen to have know their playstyle. Once both players have locked in their selections, the Champion matchups are revealed in-game when you see the two Champions face-off before entering warm-up.

NEW MODE: CLASSIC FFAWe’ve added a new game mode to Quick Play, a classic take on Free-For-All where Ranger has found himself trapped in a nightmare from when he had first entered the Dreamlands. With the all-mother Shub still up to no good and no Dire Orb at his disposal, Ranger only has his trusty Gauntlet and Machinegun at his side, along with any weapons he can add to his arsenal along his way.

SOUND UPDATESOverview (Stereo & Surround)
  • Improved directional positioning
  • Reduced volume of ambient sounds
  • Updates & fixes to reduce sound cutting out when a large number of sounds were playing
  • Reduced the volume of teammates and weapon fire not directed at you, to help you isolate and target the enemies that are immediate threats
  • Unified character sounds to a 32m (1280 u) sound radius. Most of these sounds had a radius of 37.5m (1500 u) but varied. As a comparison for those familiar with our previous titles, the max sound distance in Quake Live is 1250u.
  • Unified and reduced weapon firing and explosion sounds from 70m (2800 u) to 45m (1800 u) radius.
  • Added player respawn sounds audible within a 20m (800 u) radius
  • Added third-person weapon switching sound events, you can now hear enemies switch weapons within a 20m (800 u) radius
  • Fixed BJ-Duel Wield sounds
  • Fixed Tri-bolt Quad sound
  • Added ~250 new VO lines, increasing the diversity but not frequency of VO
HRTF 3D Positional Sound (Beta)Improvements and fixes made to the HRTF Beta, but is currently only recommended for matches with small player counts, such as Duel.
Want to try HRTF 3D Positional Sound? Be sure to check the following:
  • Set in-game Speaker Configuration to Stereo
  • Enable HRTF before you play, HRTF can only be enabled or disabled in Settings while not in-game
  • You must be using Stereo Headphones. Special headphones are not needed, you can use anything from Ear Buds to Studio Monitor Headphones, but headphones that have Surround Sound features should have those features disabled or they would not be recommended.
  • Spatial Sound in windows should be set to (Off)
  • Disable any other Windows or audio driver level Surround Sound simulations or environmental effects

Control Settings
  • Updated Zoom Sensitivity to use an auto scaling 1:1 monitor distance zoom sens. Zoom Sensitivity 1.0 will now provide you the exact same mouse sensitivity feeling as when unzoomed
  • Added ‘Auto-Scale Zoom Sensitivity’ option. Recommend and enabled by default, this will apply focal length scaling to your mouse sensitivity while zoomed. When disabled, there is no auto-zoom scaling and the Zoom Sensitivity Multiplier will be applied directly to your mouse sensitivity, allowing you more control over your zoom sens.
  • Updated Control Settings layout to support new options, keep weapon and movement binds “above the fold” and position the often adjusted mouse sensitivity values closer to the Save button
  • Added greater precision to the Mouse Sensitivity, Pitch, Yaw, Mouse Accel, Mouse Accel Offset, Mouse Accel Sensitivity Cap, and Zoom Sensitivity Multiplier sliders

Air Acceleration / Strafing Updates: strafing will now feel like previous Quake titles.
  • Light’s accel increased 0.85 to 1.0
  • Medium’s accel increased 0.9057232 to 1.065557*
  • Heavy’s accel increased 0.9671111 to 1.137778
*Exception of Visor, who’s Passive grants him the base speed and air accel of a light Champion

  • Hoverboard becomes silent after Anarki has remained still for a short period of time
Death Knight
  • Flame Wall lifetime increased from 3 to 5 seconds
  • Repurpose passive from Armor Pickups reduced on Heavy Armors from 20% to 10% and on Light Armors from 10% to 5% cooldown recovery
  • Channeling passive from Mega Health reduced from 20 to 10% cooldown recovery
  • Unholy Totem is no longer invulnerable during deployment.
  • Unholy Totem activation delay reduced from 0.75 to 0.5 seconds
  • Increased Grenade Bounce coefficient from 0.35 to 0.5
  • Ranger Dire Orb collision increased from a point to 0.05m sphere
    • Prevents some issues of it escaping the map through thin seams
  • Slide Tackle no longer pops up teammates
  • Slide Tackle no longer pops up Nyx in Ghostwalk
  • Reduced spit velocity from 25 to 20 m/s (1000 to 800 ups), reducing the max range it can be spat.
  • Acid Pool lifetime decreased from 10 to 5 seconds
Strogg & Peeker
  • Added new Passive: a short 1-second Crouchslide
  • Full Sprint Passive now grants him 320u base speed and 1.0 air accel
  • Due to his participation in the QPL, Visor has started to pick up some English (new VO)

  • Nail radius 0 to 0.05m, vs players only. Remains at 0 vs world collision
Rocket Launcher
  • Reduced grace distance for max splash damage from 12u to 8u - “how far away from the hitbox can you land a rocket and still receive max splash damage”
Lightning Gun
  • Reduced LG width radius 0.12 to 0.0625m (4.8 to 2.5u)
  • Removed Charge Meter on Zoom UI
